Detection of fraudulent installations

EMMA allows you to obtain a report about Apptracker installs that may have been carried out using fraudulent techniques.

This functionality gives you more control over the quality of the traffic you are paying for by obtaining additional valuable informations to be able to optimize each of your acquisition channels. 

Rules for detecting fraud

In order to detect fraud, we have established five rules to taken into account to determine if an install is suspected of being fraudulent or not and the probabilistic weight of the same 

In the following table you can see which are these rules:

FR1 CLICK HIJACKING

Injection of a second click of the same device seconds after of the initial click and before the install (the clicks must have been made in an interval of less than 5 seconds and belong to different sources).

FR2 SECONDS TO INSTALL

Seconds from the click to the install. Less than 10 seconds it will be possible fraud.

FR3 INSTALL TIME

Install time. All of those that are made from 2 am to 5 am (device time) will be possible fraud.

FR4 COUNTRY

Installs from countries in which the campaign is not running.

If the install timezone isn't the same as the ip timezone the install will be possibly fraudulent.

Export Fraud Data

In order to obtain the fraud data login in EMMA  and go to the Acquisition > AppTracker section.

Select the date range, go to the campaign table, filter the campaign you want to analyze and click on Export Fraud Data button to be able to download the .csv file with the fraud info (you only export the info of the campaign(s) that you are searching in the search tool).

You will obtain a csv file with such lines as installs with probability to be fraudulent with the following info:

Click ID ID of the click.
UDID Unique identification number by iOS (IDFA) and Android (AAID).
Fraud Percentage Probability that the installation is fraudulent. 
FR1 Fraud Hijacking Verification of compliance with fraud in this rule. 
FR2 Seconds From Click to Install Verification of compliance with fraud in this rule. 
FR3 Install Time Verification of compliance with fraud in this rule. 
FR4 Country Verification of compliance with fraud in this rule. 
FR5 TimeZone Match Verification of compliance with fraud in this rule. 
Provider Provider chose in the moment of the tracker creation. 
From Campaign Campaign from which the user comes.
From Source Source of the campaign from which the user comes.
Click at  Time in which the click attributed to the install was made.
Hijacking at Time in which the no fraudulent click was made.
Install at Date the user open the app by first time after the install. 
Seconds From Click to Install Seconds that have passed between the click and the app install.  
Last session Last time that user opened app/mobile site.
Device User model device where have been used app/mobile site.
App Version Last version installed in user's device.
OS Version Last OS version configured in user's device.
Latitude Latitude coordinates user while was using app/mobile site geolocation.
Longitude Longitude coordinates user while was using app/mobile site geolocation.
City City from user while was using app/mobile site geolocation.
Country Country from user while was using app/mobile site geolocation.
IP Address where user have been app/website connection.
Install TimeZone Timezone from which the install was made.
Accept Language Language of the device.
Carrier Phone company that user hired.
Connection Type Indicate connection user is by WIFI or 3G.
Install Postback Install notification sent to the provider.
Fraud Rules Detail of the fraud rules attributed to that facility. 

Important

The fraud information is only available on a closed day basis. Information for the current day is not available. In addition, it is important to remember that this fraud information will be available for all campaigns except Adwords, Facebook/Instagram and Twitter campaigns.
